Roger J. Von Eitzen, 68, of Fremont, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 3, 1947 in Port Clinton, OH the son of Maynard and Margaret (Fairbanks) Von Eitzen. He was a 1966 graduate of Port Clinton High School and went on to work for Ekcrich Co. and later retired from The U.S. Post Office. Roger was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. Roger J. Von Eitzen, 68, of Fremont, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 3, 1947 in Port Clinton, OH the son of Maynard and Margaret (Fairbanks) Von Eitzen. He was a 1966 graduate of Port Clinton High School and went on to work for Ekcrich Co. and later retired from The U.S. Post Office. Roger was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. For his service to his county he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal and two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose, V.F.W. and American Legion.

Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Nancy (Nieset) Von Eitzen of Fremont, OH; daughter-in-law Jillian; grandchildren: Tristen, Taylor and Cole Von Eitzen; brother James (Barb) Von Eitzen of Florida and sister Joan Chase of Toledo, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Matthew and brother-in-law Kevin Chase.

A Memorial service will begin at 10:30A.M. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Zacharias officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military graveside rights performed by the V.F.W. and American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Sandusky County Veterans Administration.
